girl who grew up obsessed with the wizard of oz seeing that rwby9 preview: omg i hope its the queen of the field mice
ID: closeup of Ruby in her Atlas outfit smiling wide, maybe mischievously, with the cream and white mouse from the Volume 9 preview thumbnail in her hood, posed like it’s leaning on its elbow against something, also smiling. /end ID
if the only thing that gets your white ass to read and watch and consume things about people of color is if they have characters that are trans or gay or disabled or “more like you” (aka, “redeemed” from being colored in your mind) i hope you get jumped. goodbye.
not being able to directly relate to people of color’s experiences is FINE. you dont HAVE to in order to try and engage with the things we make! is it not enough to read from a perspective you dont understand, but want to? why must you insert parts of you into every story you read? why are you so obsessed with your own reflection that you cant handle being told theres a world of experiences outside your mirror.
people of color should not have to be other minorities to earn your sympathy. you as a white person need to respect people of color. straight, able-bodied, cisgender people of color.
its not your place to exclude them from your praxis or from your thoughts. you are not only treating people like lists of oppressions you can dock or earn points on, but youre tokenizing people of color who ARE other minorities. i can PROMISE you that gay, trans, disabled people of color cant stand your ass either! this is not ally behavior bitch!
Romanticizing your own loneliness and turning it into a cool girl thing only works for like a few months and then it just becomes a throbbing black hole i think. Not that ive ever experienced anything like that
love is attained through embarrassing yourself by asking for it instead
[transcript: #maybe the nature of humanity is that we think being cool and lonely will gain us love. but the paradox is that love is attained through #embarrassing yourself by asking for it instead /end transcript]
i think grossness is a vital aspect of life btw and we all experience it and i think its important to represent in art and i think oversanitization of popular media is 100% our downfall. things are gross and disgusting and yucky and thats life we cannot deny ourselves this
Pride was originally a riot. It’s not supposed to be “family-friendly”. Those who want family-friendly LGBT spaces are free to just create them. Take places that are already family-friendly and make them LGBT-friendly also. If you don’t want to do that, then that’s why Pride is still necessary.
